Term 3 Week 7: New Windsor's Got Talent!

Yet another extremely busy week passes by in a flash.

On Thursday evening, the 'New Windsor's got talent,' or alternatively, the better grammatically sounding 'New Windsor has talent' was staged in the auditorium.  A good turnout from families in the community saw students display their talent under four categories: vocal, dance, instrumental and 'other'.
From Room 15, Rohit played the violin and recieved three rounds of applause. In the vocals section, Caden, Kaleb , Lee and Thomas performed a beat box routine.  While the judges were making their decisions, Caden took to the stage again as part of Mr Birmingham's skiffle group.

It was great to see students from Room 15 sharing their talents.  See Photos below.

Earlier on Thursday, Room 15 had their final gymnastics session with Ben and Carolina from Sport Waitakere.

On Friday, our year six students who intend to go to Blockhose Bay Intermediate, sat some reading and maths tests. Class teachers had discussions with the deputy principals from BBI to help provide them with a fuller picture of each student's strengths and needs.

Term 3 Week 6: We're Growing....

Term 3, Week 6: Speeches

This week was speeches week, which I'm sure everybody was looking forward to.
During the week, each child presented a speech to the class. The children assessed one another and gave each speaker praise for the things they did well and suggestions for what they could improve upon.

I was very pleased to see that every child made an honest effort and had a speech prepared to recite. It is not easy to formally speak in front of others but at least all the children gave it their best attempt.

Rohit  (Are Video Games Good or Bad for Us?)   and Adrena (The Importance of Education)  were selected from our class to participate in the school final on Friday.

Both students delivered their speech fantastically. We are very proud of their effort.  Congratulations to Adrena who finished second equal in the final.

Term 3, Week 5: Assembly

Room 15, along with our buddy class Room 14, were the Ropu assembly host classes this week.
Room 14 shared a video about the wonderful progress their students are making in maths and reading.
Room 15 played three songs on the recorders to share the work they have been doing in music this term.
Well done to all the children. They performed wonderfully and were also helpful during the rehearsals, showing the PB4L values we expect. This is important, especially during a very busy period of school.
