Term 1, Week 9: Camp is Approaching

Kia Ora  All:

Week 9 will be a shortened week due to the Easter break.

There will be no home-study this week....

But we might still have spelling words ....
... lets see how I feel once I'm off the plane and back in class on Wednesday.

Year 6 camp is only a matter of days away (week 11). I hope the year 6 students in our class are excited about their upcoming trip to Kawau Island and are getting prepared.

Have you....
  • Started packing the things you need on the checklist?
  • Paid your camp money? (or made arrangement with the office?)
  • Sold the chocolate bars you took and returned the money to school?
  • Practised making your bed and being organised with your belongings?
  • Talked with other students in your camp group about your concert item?
To 'wet your appetite'...
The following photos were taken just before school started back this year.  Mrs Smythe, Mrs Vizor, Miss Hall and myself all made a trip over to the camp site to get a feel for the place...

Los Angeles Update

I hear Room 15 have been working well and remembering their PB4L (well done). I hear the weather hasn't been the best over the past week but Auckland's wonderful summer had to come to an end at some point.

In LA, the weather has been spectacular!  A few weeks out of the US winter and it already feels like summer in NZ. So very little difference to when I left Auckland. Great weather for outdoor concerts!!!

I'm enjoying my break in Los Angeles and I hope Room 15 are enjoying their "break" too - although not too much  :)

Here are a few photos I will share with you:

Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame:

The La Brear Tar Pits

An NBA game (LA Lakers vs Memphis Grizzles)  Kobe Bryant playing one of his final few remaining games before he retires.

Term 1 Week 7

The term is going by very quickly!!!
The students had a great time during EOTC week and are writing a recount of their experiences.

There are two culture festivals that were held over the weekend of 19th-20th March, which ties in nicely with our theme for this term. If you went to either of these, it would be great to share your experiences or photos in your Cultures and Celebrations project.

Unfortunately, Mr H cannot attend either of them as he begins his trip to Los Angeles and will fly out Saturday evening.

Mrs Tipelu will be teaching in Room 15 from Monday to Thursday of week 8.

A reminder about the upcoming Easter break. School is closed on:
  • Fri 25th March
  • Mon 28th March
  • Tues 29th March
