Swimming Lessons

Students at New Windsor are extremely fortunate to receive two two-week swimming coaching sessions per year in the school's indoor pool. Developing confidence in the water is particularly important in a country such as New Zealand and it was pleasing to see the majority of the class take up this opportunity.  Here are some photos from Room 24's term three coaching block.

BIGFOOT BICYCLE SAFETY DAY

As part of this term's Travel wise road safety unit, instructors from Big Foot visited the school for a practical session on bike safety.
The students learned about the key components on a bike to check to see if it is road worthy. Following this, the children developed their confidence riding and controlling a bike. They also practised making signals to communicate with other traffic. Here are some shots from the day:

First Blog Posting for Term 3

Kia-ora parents and care-givers. I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity to be Room 24's teacher for terms three and four. It has most certainly been a busy start to the term!

This first posting is really just a test-post but I'd like to take the opportunity to remind parents that we are currently having swimming lessons. These are compulsory and children will need to bring their togs and a towel every day during weeks three and four.

Our trip to MAGS farm is coming up soon. Are you able to assist as a parent helper?
